One of our tulpas takes the form of a macaw. She sometimes like to be imposed and to use the shoulder as a perch.

Imposition is, at minimum, extremely difficult to do.

less that i can see them clearly, more than i get senses of where she is, what she's doing, etc... if i look directly at where she is, it's obvious she isn't there

We're able to do it, although I personally don't think it's worth the effort.

We don't use possession anymore, as switching is easier.

to my host it feels like normal movement with slight differences, usually a strange feeling around the throat

Switching isn't hugely different from possession - the primary difference is that in that case, the host... 'steps back', so to speak.

Hm. Skye typically still pays attention to the body, but occasionally goes 'inactive' due to being bored or generally uninterested in what is going on.

It would probably be like staring off into space or sleeping, I assume.

People will say different answers. My host is simply not there unless I speak to her and direct attention to her.
